HTTP Status Checker

An HTTP status checker reports the status code a URL returns and times each hop along the way. It separates the four outcomes that look identical in a browser: the page worked, it redirected somewhere, it is genuinely missing, or the server broke while trying to build it.

What does an HTTP status checker test?

An HTTP status checker requests a URL and records the response code, timing, and redirect path. It distinguishes successful pages, redirects, client errors such as 404, and server failures such as 500, helping diagnose links and endpoints that look similar when viewed only through a browser error page.

The server-side probe tries HEAD first, retries with GET for 405 or 501, follows at most ten hops, and allows eight seconds per hop behind an SSRF guard. The result reflects this probe without cookies or authentication and may differ from a logged-in browser, another region, or a bot-specific response.
