How does PDF-to-image conversion work?
PDF-to-image conversion renders each document page as pixels and saves the result in an image format. This page produces one full-color PNG per page, which is useful for previews, slide images, thumbnails, and systems that cannot display PDF content directly.
Mozilla pdf.js renders up to the first 20 pages locally at 1.5 times the native page size, roughly 108 DPI. Rasterization removes searchable text, selectable vectors, links, forms, and document structure from the output. Higher-resolution print use may require a larger render scale in another workflow.
