How is text converted to binary?
Text-to-binary conversion first encodes characters as UTF-8 bytes, then writes each byte as a zero-padded group of eight bits. Decoding reverses that process, turning whitespace-separated byte groups back into Unicode text, including accented characters and emoji that occupy more than one byte.
The page uses the browser's TextEncoder and TextDecoder APIs and performs both directions locally. The displayed bits represent the UTF-8 encoding, not a direct one-character-to-one-byte mapping; malformed groups, values outside eight bits, or bytes that do not form valid UTF-8 cannot be decoded reliably.
