What does a meta-tag checker inspect?
A meta-tag checker fetches a public page and summarizes metadata used by search engines, browsers, and social platforms, including title, description, canonical, robots, Open Graph, and Twitter fields. It helps identify missing, conflicting, or unexpectedly inherited values in the served document.
The server parses fetched HTML with cheerio behind network-safety controls. It does not execute client JavaScript or predict when Google will rewrite a title or snippet, so dynamically injected tags and crawler-specific variants may differ. Compare the result with the raw response and Search Console URL Inspection when JavaScript is involved.
