How is a torrent file converted to a magnet link?
A magnet link identifies BitTorrent content primarily by the SHA-1 hash of a .torrent file's bencoded info dictionary. This converter reads local metadata and builds a magnet URI with the info hash plus available display-name and tracker parameters, so the small .torrent file does not need to be shared.
A from-scratch bencode decoder and Web Crypto hash run in the browser without joining a swarm or transferring payload data. Conversion does not prove legality, safety, or availability. A magnet can still fail when no reachable peer provides metadata or when the swarm lacks complete pieces.
