Website Down Checker

The Website Down Checker fetches a URL from our server to determine whether a site is genuinely offline or unreachable only from your network. It reports the HTTP status and response time, treating any status below 500 as up.

How does a website-down checker work?

A website-down checker requests a public URL from outside the user's own network to separate a broadly unreachable service from a local DNS, firewall, browser, or connection problem. This page reports the observed HTTP status and response time and treats responses below 500 as evidence that the server answered.

The probe runs from one server region, uses a ten-second timeout, and blocks private or link-local targets. A 403 or 404 still means the site responded, while a successful single-region result does not prove worldwide availability. CDN routing, regional blocks, and intermittent failures require checks from multiple locations.
